Blackboard Ponies is a 2D Platformer where you play as a pony wreaking havoc on a classroom blackboard, developed by a two person team from Austria. The game’s prototype was originally created as an entry to the Tiny Horse Game Jam #2, a community game jam focused on making small horse games within just a month of work.
Driftborn is a multiplayer fantasy creature racing game coming to Steam for PC. Developer Redstride Studio aims to release a playable demo in 2026 and has been making waves primarily in the horse game spaces on TikTok and Instagram with a bunch of juicy creature animation showcases.
Champions Stable: Equestrian Dynasty is an upcoming simulation strategy game about horse racing. The game aims to provide an in-depth sports simulation along with riding races in first person and being able to ride around an open world for side activities.
Palia is an online multiplayer life sim game that I’ve had a somewhat interested eye on even without the horses, as someone who enjoys cozy life sim gameplay and prettily stylized character designs. It’s now given me an immediately convincing reason to take a closer look: The Royal Highlands Expansion, announced for release on May 12th, will add horses to the game.
PikPok, the New Zealand studio behind Rival Stars Horse Racing, and Mattel, Inc have exciting news for horse game players today: Barbie Horse Ride and Rescue is a brand new horse game coming to mobile devices on June 16th 2026, with a release on PC and Switch 2 to follow in 2027.
Rival Stars Horse Racing is coming to consoles! In a press release today, developer and publisher PikPok announces that their game will be coming to PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Xbox One on April 28, with a Nintendo Switch 2 version set to be coming soon.
The Legend of Khiimori, the Mongolian courier rider game developed by Aesir Interactive and published by Mindscape, releases into Early Access today. I worked on this game as Creative Producer during its early concept phase in 2023 and helped shape the game’s vision very early on.

Roly-Pony is a Suika style puzzle game that you can play in your browser for free on itch.io. It was developed by two TMQ Community members. In true Tiny Horse Game Spirit, the two creators got together for about two weeks to create, finish and release Roly-Pony to the community.
Disney Dreamlight Valley is an adventure life-sim featuring lots of classic and modern Disney characters all the way from Mickey Mouse to Moana. Barbie Horse Adventures fans rejoice! There’s going to be a brand new Barbie horse game published by Outright Games and developed by PHL Collective. Mattel announced that Barbie Horse Trails will come to Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC (Steam) on October 10th 2025.
In an announcement post for Steam Developers on July 31st 2025, Valve revealed its sales and events schedule for the first half of 2026. Among other genre-specific and focused thematic sales Steam announces Horse Fest, taking place from February 19 - 23 next year.

As part of the State of Unreal 2025 event, CD Project Red showed the world exciting new material from their w upcoming fantasy RPG The Witcher 4. The Tech Demo shown at State of Unreal introduces Ciri’s equine companion Kelpie, named after the mythological water horse.

Well, a bunch of community members have taken this to heart in the best of ways: They organized the first official TMQ Tiny Horse Game Jam: Of the 8 resulting games, several were made by people who had never made a game before, but who now made their small but wonderful debut titles available for all to play.
The Ranch of Rivershine is a standout in the horse game niche for various reasons. I’ve written about the game and talked to developer Éloise Laroche back when the game released its first playable demo in early 2023 and came away with very positive impressions, and from everything I’ve seen, the project has only improved from there. After about two years in Early Access with several game updates and patches, the game has received its final major content updates on May 23rd 2025.
After 30 days of campaign and another week of late pledging, the crowdfunding campaign for Windstorm: The Legend of Khiimori by Aesir Interactive has officially closed on Friday, April 11th 2025. The total amount raised ended up at €504 798 from 8889 backers, just unlocking the much asked-for stretch goal “Falconers of Mongolia” that promises giving players an option to hunt with an Eagle.
Today we get to look at two recently released horse games that may have flown under your radar.
Both of these games came to my attention because their creators used the TMQ communities to find interested players. They might not fulfill every horse game dream you’ve had, but they’re sure worth a look if you’re willing to try something new and support independent developers at a very affordable price tag.
