Game Announcement Roundup: Here are 10 Upcoming Horse Games to Keep an Eye on in 2025 and 2026
Gather up horse game fans, it is time for another announcement roundup. This is where I do a quick rundown of upcoming and recently released games that I want to let you all know about, but don’t have capacity for deep dives and dedicated articles for.
If you’ve missed them so far, make sure to check out the Indie Horse Game Revolution article and this Roundup from last year – both lists contain titles that are still in development and worth keeping an eye on or checking up on! The list below consists only of games that I haven’t covered on TMQ before.
As always, consider adding these games to your wishlist on Steam! This helps the developer gauge interest and gain visibility in the store and requires zero actual commitment from your end.
Equitania
Equitania describes itself as a “horse racing game focused on archery”, and stands out from a lot of competitors by going for colorful fantasy visuals and more action-oriented gameplay than cozy barn management.
The game doesn’t have its own community, but its creator is active on the TMQ Discord where they share occasional updates. This dev diary on Steam outlines some of their thought processes behind Equitania’s creation and their plans for the game. The game’s developer has also shared a look at their horse painter tool on the /r/GamesWithHorses subreddit, which offers a lot of fantastical patterns and gives a lot of freedom over fantastical colors, which I know some people are more than eager for!

Giddy Up
Giddy Up aims to be “a horse simulation game where you care for realistic horses, manage your own equestrian estate, and explore beautiful environments". In a press kit sent to TMQ, solo developer Danielle explains that she believes “that the equestrian gaming community has waited long enough for a decent horse game that sets the bar high and exceeds the expectations we believe it deserves.”
Via Email, Danielle elaborates: “My focus is on delivering a solid core game loop first, rather than releasing a half-finished early access version.” She posts public updates on the game’s development on Patreon.

Tobiano
Tobiano is an indie horse management simulation game made by a solo creator. While initially announced for mobile devices, the dev has recently confirmed their intentions to bring the game to Steam for PC and Mac as well.
On the project’s website, Tobiano promises to focus on the training process and dressage movements, with plans for other disciplines later on. “Horses also have temperaments and fitness levels which will impact their ride ability,” says the site. “Horses can get stressed by high demands like new exercises or strenuous work.”
Tobiano’s developer is actively sharing their progress in the TMQ communities on Reddit, Facebook and Discord, and Beta testing is currently ongoing.

Sound of Horses
Sound of Horses is an open world adventure game by Vanilla Sky Productions from Sweden. Its announcement trailer shows the ever-wonky Horse Animset Pro horse, but features quite a bit of charming set dressing with a cartoon realism reminiscent of Star Stable Online. The trailer goes on to show a handful of promising details such as the horse kicking down wooden panels to gain access, as well as carriage driving.
Sound of Horses promises to let players create their own horse and character and then play through an episodic story with “quiet mysteries” and a “surprising cliffhanger”.
The game’s website indicates that the game will also come to Google Play and the Apple App Store.

Spirit Horse Simulator
Spirit Horse Simulator promises to satisfy the often demanded and rarely delivered desire of the audience to play as a horse instead of a human working with horses. It’s a concept I’d be incredibly on board with, were it not for the use of Horse Animset Pro, odd stylization of horses in the trailer, generative AI in the game’s marketing assets, and the danger of copyright infringement considering the game’s title and inclusion of what appears to be a fan-made Spirit foal model, based on the 2002 Dreamworks movie.
Let’s say I’m curious to see how this one develops!

Barn Quest
I said “upcoming” games in the post title, but this one is actually already released. “Merge, restore & wrangle horses in this cozy farm adventure!” says the game’s Steam page.
Barn Quest appears to combine a tile-based merging mechanic with a barn management loop. It currently has Mixed Reviews on Steam, but since it’s free to play anyone can give it a try to see for themselves.

Medieval Horse Dealer Simulator
Medieval Horse Dealer Simulator promises a game loop centered around breeding and selling horses, with the steam page describing that “You can breed horses that focus on specific abilities. For example, to have a better draft horse, you can breed a baby horse from a stallion with a high stamina attribute and formulate a specific feed to increase its strength ability.”
I’m very much here for that concept, but highly skeptical due to the AI-generated key art and the fact that all horses in the promotional screenshots are missing manes. That there’s a grey foal in one image (grey horses are actually born in other colors and only grey out over time) doesn’t exactly demonstrate a lot of horse knowledge either.

Hobby Horse
Does Hobby Horse count as a horse game? Like the real sport of hobby horsing, this game features horse heads on sticks while doing vaguely equestrian inspired activities. The game is being made by Games Incubator and PlayWay SA, who have previously made My Horse: Bonded Spirits.
I will admit that the trailer for Hobby Horse looks like good fun, though I’m afraid the lack of any actual horses drastically limits my personal interest in this game.

Tölt
TÖLT from Enigma Studios is a first person point and click adventure where you play as a horse. The game’s art style and overall presentation lean heavily into the weird, to put it mildly.
According to the Steam description: “The objective is simple. You are a horse who lives on an island with all your friends. You wish for nothing more than to simply run around and hang out. Just as all horses love to do.” It all sounds quite peaceful if you ignore the thoroughly unsettling vibes I get from every single screenshot.
But hey, we sure haven’t seen something like this before so we might as well give it a chance.

Gaucho and the Grassland
I’m daring to include another already released title: Gaucho and the Grassland is a farming adventure game set in Latin American Gaucho culture, made by Epopeia Games from Brazil. Laura from The Bridle Paths (you know, the other horse game website!) has written a review of the game and appreciates the game’s grounding in Brazilian culture and myth, but warns horse lovers not to expect a lot of mechanical depth in horse companion Pingo. Check out the full review right here.
