Animal Fest is live on Steam now, and lots of Horse Games are on Discount

If you follow TMQ closely, you’ll know that the most relevant Steam sale for horse fans will take place in February 2026 with the dedicated “Horse Fest”. The more general “Animal Fest” however is happening right now, and quite a few horse games are part of it – meaning, a lot of them are on discount. Here’s some tips for what to check out, along with links to my reviews where they exist:

  • Pasture: The Livestock Simulator has a free demo in the sale. By the devs own admission, their horses are more of the “meat motorcycle” variety than a core feature – and using Horse Animset Pro – but if you’re in the market for a ranching game where you round up cattle, this might well be worth a look!

  • Our very own Horses of Hoofprint Bay is featured in the sale, though only as an upcoming title with no demo or discount just yet. Still, if you haven’t added it to your wishlist yet, I am obliged to remind you. (Disclaimer: I work on this game)

  • The Ranch of Rivershine is 35% off, still its biggest discount to date. My full review should be up soon (finally), but I can already tell you that I do in fact recommend the game.

  • Unbridled: That Horse Game is 10% off – I’ve not managed to play past my very early first impressions, but I know the game receives regular updates and enjoys Very Positive reviews on average.

  • Horse Tales: Emerald Valley Ranch and all of its DLC are heavily discounted. While the game still sits at mixed reviews due to technical issues, I do still think it’s worth trying out. (Disclaimer: I worked on this game and still consult for developer Aesir Interactive)

  • Rival Stars Horse Racing is 40% discounted, which makes the already worth-it desktop edition definitely worth-it. My review is quite out of date by now, due to a lot of content having been added over the years, but my opinion of the game remains positive. A recent update even added a multiplayer Free Roam feature, if that’s your jam? See also: the game’s VR Edition, currently 10% off. (Disclaimer: I consult for developer Pikpok, but my review is from before any working relationship started)

If none of these strike your fancy, I can also recommend a general scroll through the Animal Fest lineup, outside of horses. Personally, I was positively surprised by how many animal-themed games are available nowadays, when that sort of thing was a rarity not long ago. I still hope someone will at some point launch a TMQ-like effort for cats or dogs, but until then, at least check out the Steam Category.
